Could I use my own lamb’s wool for padding in pointe shoes?
I own a sheep farm, and I was wondering if I could use the lamb’s wool I have at home to pad my pointe shoes. If I wash and card it (making it soft and cushy, not matted and stiff), would this be safe? Or do I have to buy wool from a dance supply store. Up until now, I’ve been using ouch pads.
I don’t see that it would be much different than what you would purchase from a dance wear place. I would try it just to see – what’s the worst that could happen? I personally use the ouch pouch along with the lambs wool. I find that the wool alone flattens over time, but along with the ouch pouch (or another gel style toe pad) gives extra protection and comfort.
